        • Norris // When you move within the creative scene, you quickly learn that there’s a lot of talk. That’s just part of the business: persuading and selling, even when it comes to creativity. Norris is different. He only talks about things he can actually do. Photography, for example.

          With great focus and an outward calm, he searches for the perfect moment to capture the essence of what he’s photographing in a single image. Perhaps it’s this combination of outward stillness and a constant search for something new that brought him from southern Germany to Hamburg.

          Norris loves being close to the water—because it soothes him while at the same time awakening longing? Maybe it’s this sense of complexity that is the secret behind his images. But that’s something he likely keeps to himself. Whatever creates the magic of his photos, we’re lucky to see them, enjoy them, and discover the stories behind them.

        • Interview with Hamburger Menschen #71 – Norris on Norris //
          First and foremost, I’m a photographer. I’ve been one for a long time. For several years it ran alongside other things, but for quite a while now I’ve been fully committed to it with my whole heart.

          Curiosity and the joy of experimenting led me on a number of detours, drawing me into other fields, so to speak. I’m fortunate to have a profession that can be applied almost anywhere, which meant I was able to use it well even during those detours.

          Now that I’ve fully arrived in photography, I’m lucky to be able to move very freely— even with large budgets for international corporations, there are often just one or two small guidelines, and otherwise the brief is simply: “Please do it the way you do it.” That kind of freedom is not something to be taken for granted in my profession, and I’m very grateful for it.

        • Those experiences took me into set construction, camera work for stop-motion productions, as well as onto lighting crews for Tatort productions and commercial shoots. Curiosity is everything, and everything contributes to ongoing learning, as well as to finding fast, effective solutions in my own productions.
      • norris // Wenn man sich in der kreativen Szene bewegt, dann weiss man, es wird viel „geschnackt“. Das ist eben das Business, überzeugen und verkaufen, auch wenn es um etwas Kreativität geht. Das ist bei Norris nicht so — er redet nur von Dingen, die er kann. Zum Beispiel fotografieren. Mit großer Konzentration und äußerer Ruhe sucht er den perfekten Moment, um den Kern dessen, was er fotografiert, im Bild festzuhalten.Vielleicht ist es auch diese Mischung aus äußerer Ruhe und der konstanten Suche nach dem Neuen, die ihn aus Süddeutschland nach Hamburg gebracht hat. Norris liebt die Nähe zum Wasser – Weil es beruhigt und gleichzeitig Sehnsüchte nährt? Vielleicht ist diese Vielschichtigkeit das Geheimnis seiner Bilder. Aber das behält er wohl für sich. Egal, was den Zauber seiner Fotos ausmacht: Wir dürfen sie sehen, genießen und die Geschichten dahinter sehen. Norris findet diese Geschichten auch für uns – tendaysaweek. Cris Sebiger-Bertram

      • Interview zu Hamburger Menschen #71 –  norris über norris // In erster Linie bin ich Fotograf. Das bin ich schon lange, einige Jahre lief er so nebenher, doch seit wiederum einiger Zeit bin ich mit ganzer Seele dabei. Die Neugier und der Spass am Ausprobieren hatte mich auf einige Ausflüge genommen, sprich mich in anderen Bereichen einsinken lassen. Ich habe das Glück einen Beruf zu haben, der quasi fast überall einsetzbar ist und somit konnte ich ihn auch auf meinen Ausflügen gut einsetzen. Jetzt völlig in der Fotografie angekommen, habe ich das Glück mich sehr frei bewegen zu können – selbst bei grossen Budgets für internationale Konzerne gibt es oft nur ein zwei kleine Vorgaben und sonst lautet der Auftrag – „Mach es bitte so wie du das eben machst.“ – Das ist keine selbstverständliche Freiheit in meinem Beruf und ich bin sehr dankbar dafür.
      • Die genannten Ausflüge führten mich zum Setbau, Kamera für Stopmotion Produktionen, wie auch ins Beleuchter Team von Tatort Produktionen oder Werbedrehs. Neugier ist alles und alles trägt zur Weiterbildung, wie auch schnellen Lösungen bei eigenen Produktionen bei.
